Some simple Statistical ideas and techniques useful for understanding the COVID-19 pandemic by Prof Paul Fatti
Speaker
Prof Fatti is currently Emeritus Professor at the School of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Wits University. Amongst his many achievements, he headed the Division of Operations Research and Statistics at the CSIR and  has been Head of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Wits. Paul has been a member of ORSSA for many years. He has served as Chairman of the Johannesburg Chapter, President, Editor of ORiON and ORSSA representative for IFORS. Paul is also a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and a member of SASA, of which he was president in 1988. For his numerous contributions to the Operations Research profession in general he was elected Fellow of the Operations Research Society of South Africa in August 2005. Paul has led mountaineering expeditions to different parts of the world, including Patagonia and the Himalayas, and has been involved in several first ascents. He is a Past President and Honorary Life member of the Mountain Club of South Africa, and was instrumental in working towards the recognition of Magaliesberg as a World Biosphere Reserve as chair of the Magaliesberg Biosphere Initiative Group.
