ORSSA celebrated its 50th anniversary at the annual conference held from 8 to 11 September 2019 in Cape Town. As part of these celebrations the Society launch a book titled Operations Research in South Africa – the first 50 years. The book records the history and activities of the society over five decades. In addition, it chronicles the history of operations research while several chapters are devoted to new and recent methodological developments of the discipline.
