We’re proud to announce the release of the latest issue of ORiON, the official journal of ORSSA!
"The current issue of ORiON is comprised of three papers. The first is “A prison bed bug (Cimex lecturalius) dispersion model”, by Ferreira, Malan and Mudimu. This paper presents an interesting stochastic model for the spread of bed bugs within the cell of a South African remand centre.
The second paper in this issue is titled “Statistical residual analysis: A review”, by Mahomani, Ndwandwe and Santana. This paper reviews different parts of statistics as a discipline where residual analysis is used. This type of analysis is used in various contexts and the included paper provides insightful comments as well as examples.
The final paper is “Weighted composition for entropy-regularised reinforcement learning”, by Nyabadza, Rosman, James and Nangue Tasse. This research considers the setting where an agent’s existing skills are to be utilised in order to attain various goals with different preferences.
My thanks go to the authors of these excellent papers. I also thank Dr Elzanie Bothma and Mrs Jeanne Marie Coetzee for their assistance in with the preparation of this issue."
