About the Event
The supply chain of a company often evolves organically over time and eventually there may be doubts as to whether the exiting supply chain configuration is still optimal in serving their needs. Typical questions may be: “What would be the impact be if we close that underutilised facility down?” or “Would it be better to have fewer centralised facilities rather than many regional facilities?” The solution may also be dependant on the type of transport fleet that is used, as well as government regulations on waste material collection and processing. We will use dynamic simulation modelling to explore these topics and answer what-if questions. We will also illustrate how the combination of AI and simulation modelling can lead to new insights.
Clemens Dempers obtained a MSc in Physics at the University of Natal (South Africa) and is a registered professional Physicist. Since leaving the University, he has founded a number of software and consulting companies. He is interested in multi-paradigm data science and modeling & simulation of complex systems, and how these methodologies can enable better decision making. Clemens has been involved in several consulting projects in South Africa, Botswana, India, Hungary, New Zealand, USA and Finland.
