Pi Day Pizza Party was a calculated success

Updated: Apr 5

Members and event guests of ORSSA recently celebrated Pi Day with pizza parties in Stellen-bosch and Sandton. The event brought together members of the ORSSA community to enjoy delicious pizza and celebrate the mathematical constant π.

Pi Day, celebrated on March 14th, is an annual celebration of the π constant, which is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. It is fitting then to that the amount of food consumed could easily be determined with the formula pi*z*z*a.

The event was a great way for members of the community to come together, share their passion for operations research, and celebrate the importance of π. Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious pizzas and socialized and networked with other members of the community.

The South African date format might give the Society and excuse for another pizza party on 22 July (22/7). Keep an eye on the events page for more information!

Attendees at the Stellenbosch pizza party were LTR: Sikelela Mgaga, Stephan Nel, Jemma Buhrs, Louis Boshoff, Jessica Masefield. James Goldschmidt, Daniel Barrish, and Lieschen Venter.
