An advance warm welcome to the 42nd Annual Conference of the Operations Research Society of South Africa (ORSSA)! The Conference will be hosted by the Western Cape Chapter of ORSSA and will be held at the Protea Hotel Technopark in Stellenbosch, from September 15th to 18th, 2013.
The conference will open with a welcome reception on Sunday evening September 15th and will close at lunchtime on Wednesday September 18th. Participation over the full spectrum of Operations Research is encouraged, including papers of a more fundamental nature, those on the application of Operations Research techniques in business and industry, about topical issues in Operations Research, and about the philosophy, teaching and marketing of Operations Research.
Emeritus Professor Theodor Stewart (Department of Statistical Sciences, University of Cape Town and the Manchester Business School) will be delivering both the opening and closing plenary lectures at this year's conference. The opening plenary will be entitled Multicriteria Decision Analysis - An Integrating Framework for OR and the closing plenary will be entitled Multicriteria Decision Aid to OR for Development.

Delegates who wish to present a paper at the conference may also submit an abstract online by following the link Submit an Abstract above. Following the successful introduction of published conference proceedings in 2011, authors will again have the choice of either (a) only presenting papers orally at the conference, or (b) additionally submitting full papers (which will be presented orally at the conference) for inclusion in the peer-reviewed conference proceedings. Full papers may be submitted via the link Submit a Paper above. Registration, abstract and full paper submissions open on March 18th, 2013. Delegates are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. The Protea Hotel Technopark is recommended, as the Society has arranged very competitive rates for delegates. Please note that these rates are only offered to delegates who make their accommodation bookings before 1 August 2013.
